Welcome to Rachel’s Cottage Studio!

Rachel’s Cottage Studio is a space for textile work, archival research, domestic histories, and is a supportive, neurodivergent creative practice.
My work explores the quiet stories held in materials — remnants, fragments, inherited objects, and the traces left in archives.
Through slow making, lived‑experience research, and gentle creative methods, I’m building a practice that connects textiles, memory, and care.
As a supporter of sustainable materials I started Soft Source, a specialised material research consultancy operating 100% remotely from the studio.
Soft Source bridges lived-experience research and interior design by curating low-stimulus, acoustic, and sustainable material schedules.
Working entirely digitally, the studio partners with UK architects, design practices, and private clients to create calm, inclusive, and sensory-friendly interior environments that actively reduce daily friction.

Two Creative Paths, One Studio Canopy
Rachel’s Cottage Studio operates as a dual practice where the sensory exploration of materials directly shapes human and environmental well-being.
Fine Art & Slow Craft
Grounded in natural dyeing, hand-weaving, and the emotional resonance of materials, this branch focuses on creating tactile textile art, heritage memory pieces, and gentle creative workshops that explore the slower rhythms of making.

Support the Studio
If you feel connected to my work and would like to support the continuation of this practice, you can do so through Ko‑fi. Your contribution helps fund materials and the stability I need to keep developing creative projects, textile work, and lived‑experience research.
This studio is where I share my work, develop workshops and my new venture Soft Source, write about my research, and create pieces that honour domestic histories and material culture. Thank you for being here!
Rachel x
