Soft Source

Soft Source is a growing directory of sustainable materials, plant‑based products, and gentle home interiors designed for people with sensitivities, disabilities, and sensory differences. It brings together research, lived experience, and slow, careful testing to help people create environments that feel safe, soothing, and accessible. This project began from my own need for materials that didn’t overwhelm my skin, senses, or nervous system. Living with a fluctuating neurological condition and sensory processing differences means that many everyday products — fabrics, finishes, scents, detergents, even lighting — can be uncomfortable or triggering. Over time, I started gathering alternatives: natural fibres, low‑toxicity paints, plant‑based balms, fragrance‑free cleaning options, and materials that support emotional and sensory wellbeing. Soft Source is the result of that ongoing search. It’s a place where I document what I’ve learned, share accessible alternatives, and explore how sustainable design can support disabled and sensitive bodies. Each entry is shaped by care, transparency, and lived experience. I’m not aiming for perfection or completeness — just honest, practical guidance for people who want their homes and materials to feel kinder. Soft Source will grow slowly, and my hope is that it becomes a quiet, trustworthy resource for anyone seeking comfort, sustainability, and emotional fit in the spaces they live and create in.
